The Fellowship is a full 6-month program. It exposes the fellows to all aspects of dermatology. Although the primary focus of the program is medical dermatology, the fellows will have opportunities to observe and possibly participate in common cosmetic procedures, laser/radiation treatments, research, surgical procedures, and will be taught and competency in these areas is essential to the completion of the program.
A vast range of clinical diseases will be presented, but continuous self-learning and independent research is an essential component. Experience will be gained in other aspects of dermatology including:
• Biopsies/Excisions
• Dermoscopy
• Phototherapy
• Cryotherapy
• Wound Care
• Pharmacology
• Surgical Procedures
The Fellowship covers the full spectrum of clinical dermatology for the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant that is interested in pursuing a career in dermatology. It is an intense and demanding experience with unique opportunities for clinical and career advancement. Networking with other like providers and practitioners in the specialty is another facet of this program that is appreciated by previous fellows. Possible elective opportunities may be available as special interests develop.
